Cleveland Independent Network of Entertainers, Moviemakers & Artists

CINEMA (The Cleveland Independent Network of Entertainers, Moviemakers & Artists), a non-profit organization, empowers independent filmmakers, screenwriters, actors, and artists in the greater Cleveland area through networking, funding, showcasing and education.

As part of its mission, CINEMA Cleveland will provide funding to local film projects, promote those projects and provide a venue in which to showcase them through the hosting of a local independent film festival.

CINEMA Cleveland will also reach out to the community of Cleveland through education by providing affordable performing arts workshops, scholarships and internships.

CINEMA & CIA Offer Film Appreciation Courses

CINEMA Cleveland and The Cleveland Institute of Art are pleased to announce two new Film Appreciation course offerings beginning this spring.

Contemporary Film Criticism and The Ever-Expanding Tarantinoverse are being offered as part of CIA's Contining Education non-degree program in the interest of expanding its film based curriculum.

Learn how to appreciate and critique film like a pro or delve into the mind of Pulp Fiction and Inglourious Basterds writer/director Quentin Tarantino in these exciting new courses taught by CINEMA staff members. Classes begin February 6, so enroll today!

Free Intensive Editing Workshop at Tri-C Metro

It's often said that a film is made in the editing room. The Apprentice Editor Project will be an intensive 4 weekends "hands-on"documentary-editing workshop designed to accommodate aspiring editors of all skill levels.

Oscars 2010: Cleveland Reacts

Upcoming Event: Tuesday, February 2 - Oscars 2010: Cleveland Reacts

Be among the "first responders" to this year's Oscar nominations during this special event on Tuesday, February 2, from 7-9 p.m. in the Institute's Aitken Auditorium. "Oscars 2010: Cleveland Reacts" will take place only ten hours after this year's nominees are announced.

Co-sponsored by The Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque, CIA's Office of Continuing Education, and CINEMA Cleveland, this event is an interactive first look at the 2010 Academy Award nominations by a panel of local film experts. Cinematheque Director John Ewing will serve as the panel's moderator.

This event is free and open to the public, and attendees will have the chance to win prizes such as free Cinematheque memberships, Continuing Education discounts, and more!

CINEMA is proud to announce its continued partnership with the Cleveland Institute of Art. They are very excited to be a part of what we are striving for, and we are equally excited to form a partnership with such an established and well-respected organization.

CIA will serve as our Fiscal Agent while we await the approval of our own 501(c)(3). With this partnership CINEMA is awarded all the rights and benefits of a fully functional non-profit organization, including tax exemption and the solicitation of grants and donations.  We are able to offer all donors tax-deductible donations, making it much easier to raise funds for the artists of Cleveland.
